1அங்கலிங்க பீடமாய் ஐயிரண்டு எழுத்திலும்
2பொங்குதா மரையினும் பொருந்துவார் அகத்தினும்
3பங்குகொண்ட சோதியும் பரந்தஅஞ்சு எழுத்துமே
4சிங்கநாத ஓசையும் சிவாயம் அல்லது இல்லையே.

புறக் கோயில்களையும் லிங்க வழிபாட்டையும் அகமுகப்படுத்தி, நாத யோகத்தின் உச்சத்தை சிவவாக்கியர் பிரகடனம் செய்கிறார். மனித உடலே லிங்க பீடம்; பத்து வாயுக்களிலும், இதயத் தாமரையிலும், தூய மெய்யடியாரின் உள்ளத்திலும் குடிகொண்டுள்ள பரஞ்சோதி அந்தப் பஞ்சாட்சரமேயாகும். வாசி சுழுமுனையில் ஏறி கபாலத்தில் முழங்கும் சிங்கநாதப் பேரொலியும், பிரபஞ்சம் முழுவதும் நிறைந்து நிற்கும் பரம்பொருளும் சிவாய நாமத்தைத் தவிர வேறொன்றும் இல்லை; எல்லாம் சிவமயமே என முழங்குகிறார்.

Limb and linga have a seat, and the twice-five letters have a place beside it. The surging lotus and the inner of those who accord are named in the same breath. The light that took a share is the five letters spread wide. Even the sound called the lion's roar is nothing other than Sivayam. Seat, flower, share of light, and roar are folded into the five letters.

The teaching

Sivavakkiyar internalizes the sacred Shiva Linga and unveils the mystical experience of the 'Lion's Roar' (சிங்கநாதம்). The practitioner's own physical body is the sacred altar (பீடம்), and the indwelling consciousness is the living Linga. Spanning the twice-five subtle letters (the ten primal energies) and the blooming thousand-petaled lotus of the Sahasrara (பொங்கு தாமரை), the effulgent Light of Shiva shares its radiant presence in the hearts of those who attain inner harmony. At the height of Kundalini absorption, the yogi hears the thunderous, majestic inner sound known as the Lion-Nada (சிங்கநாத ஓசை)—the supreme reverberation of unstruck sound. Sivavakkiyar proclaims that this ecstatic inner roar and cosmic illumination are nothing separate from the all-pervading vibration of Sivayam.

சிவவாக்கியர் அத்வைத பிரம்ம தத்துவத்தின் எல்லையற்ற தன்மையை விளக்கி, திக்கற்ற பெருவெளியில் உருவமும் இடமும் மாயையே என்பதை உணர்த்துகிறார். எவ்வித உவமைகளுக்கும் உட்படாத, எல்லையற்ற பரஞ்சோதிக்குள் ஓர் உருவமோ வடிவமோ அமைவது எங்ஙனம் சாத்தியம்? உருவமற்ற அந்தப் பேரொளியே அண்ட சராசரங்களாய் உருவெடுத்து நின்ற இடம் எது? தவத்தின் வடிவான பரமசிவன் எல்லைகளைக் கடந்து வீற்றிருக்கும் இடம் எது? எல்லாவற்றிற்கும் அப்பாலான தற்பர வெளியாகிய பரம்பொருளினிடத்தில், படைப்பின் ஆதி அசைவாகிய சலம் (பிரபஞ்சத் தோற்றம்) எங்கே பிறந்து எங்கே தங்கியது? உருவம், இடம், காலம் என்ற கற்பிதங்கள் யாவும் மனித மனதின் மாயைத் தோற்றங்களே; பரம்பொருள் என்பது எங்கும் நீக்கமற நிறைந்த, பிரிவுகளற்ற பூரண சைதன்யமே என்பதை இப்பாடல் அறுதியிட்டுரைக்கிறது.

Four questions ask where, and none of them is answered. Inside the great light that has no likeness, where is the thing that became form? In the universe that itself became a likeness, where is what stood as form? Where did the supreme one who is austerity stand bearing it? In the supreme itself, where did water arise and remain? Form, place, and water are all refused a settled spot.

The teaching

Sivavakkiyar poses a series of profound non-dual cosmological questions to dissolve the illusion of spatial locality and physical form. Inside the boundless, peerless Great Light (உவமையிலாப் பேரொளி / பரஞ்சோதி) that defies all comparison and boundaries, where could localized, tangible form (உருவம்) possibly exist? In this vast universe that is itself merely a reflection or shadow of the unmanifest, where does form truly abide? Where does the Supreme Lord of pure tapas (தவமதான பரமனார்) stand? And within the absolute Reality (தற்பரம்), how and where did the fluid flux of primordial creation (சலம்) arise and stay? Sivavakkiyar demonstrates that before the infinite expanse of Pure Consciousness, spatial categories ('where?') are completely meaningless; the Divine does not occupy a geographical coordinate, but is the undivided, shoreless ground of all Being.

சித்தர்களின் மறைபொருளான அந்திமொழி (சந்தியா பாஷை) வழியே சிவவாக்கியர் வாசி யோகத்தின் உன்னத உற்பத்தியை விளக்குகிறார். ஆகாயப் பெருவெளியில் (ககம்) மூன்று எருதுகள் கூடி ஒரு கன்றை ஈன்ற விந்தை எங்கே நிகழ்ந்தது? இடை, பிங்கலை, சுழுமுனை ஆகிய மூன்று நாடிகள் கபால உச்சியில் கூடும்போது, அங்கே ஆத்ம ஞானம் என்னும் கன்று பிறக்கிறது. கீழான ஏழு உலகங்களின் ஆதார நிலைகளும் உடலின் ஆதார சக்கரங்களிலேயே நிலைபெற்றுள்ளன. சிவசக்தியாகிய ஆணும் பெண்ணும் (அவனும் அவளும்) அகத்திலே ஆடும் ஆனந்தக் கூத்தினாலேயே அறியற்கரிய சிவானந்தம் பிறக்கிறது; அந்த பராசக்தியே முதுகுத்தண்டாகிய மேரு மலையாய் (சுழுமுனையாய்) விளங்குகிறாள். இந்த அந்தரங்க அத்துவித நடனமே பிரபஞ்ச இயக்கமாகவும் சீவனின் மோட்சமாகவும் திகழ்கிறது.

The questions turn into riddles. Where did three bulls, spoken of as the sky, give birth to a calf? Where is the manner in which all seven worlds stood under the word? Then a birth is simply declared. By the dance of him and of her, the rare Siva was born. She herself is Meru. The last place-name is compressed in the print, and the line still asks where that ground of hers stood.

The teaching

Employing esoteric Siddha twilight language (சந்தியா பாஷை) and yogic cosmology, Sivavakkiyar weaves impossible imagery to reveal the inner birth of wisdom. The three celestial bulls in the sky (ககம் / the expanse of Chidakasha) giving birth to a calf symbolizes the three primary nadis (Ida, Pingala, Sushumna) or the three gunas merging at the cranial summit to give birth to the luminous calf of direct Self-knowledge (ஆத்ம ஞானம்). Beneath cosmic speech, all seven planes of consciousness find their true footing. From the ecstatic, primordial dance of the cosmic masculine and feminine principles (அவனும் அவளும் ஆடலால்), the transcendent reality of Shiva is born in consciousness. Shakti herself is the golden mountain Meru—the central spinal pillar of Sushumna. The entire universe is thus revealed not as rigid doctrine, but as the living, ecstatic union and play of Shiva and Shakti within.

சாத்திர விதிகளையும் மதச் சடங்குகளையும் வகுத்துரைக்கும் பண்டிதர்களை சிவவாக்கியர் நேரடி ஆன்ம வினாக்களால் அறைகூவி அழைக்கிறார். சீவனின் உள்ளுணர்வு தோன்றி உதிக்கும் இடம் எது? அது பிரபஞ்ச மௌனத்தில் ஒடுங்கும் இடம் எது? வாழ்வின் இயக்க விசை எங்கே நிலைகொள்கிறது? விழிப்பு நீங்கி ஆழ்ந்த உறக்கம் எங்கே நிகழ்கிறது? உண்மையை அறியும் மதி (ஞானம்) எங்கே இருக்கிறது? அறியாமையைத் தரும் மதிமயக்கம் எங்கே உதிக்கிறது? சமய நூல்களை வைத்துக்கொண்டு உலகத்தாருக்கு விதிகளைப் போதிக்கும் வேதாந்தப் பண்டிதர்களே, இந்த உள்ளுணர்வின் நிலைகளையும் மனதின் இயக்க ரகசியங்களையும் உங்களால் அனுபவபூர்வமாய் விரித்துரைக்க முடியுமா? வெற்று நூலறிவு மெய்யறிவாகாது; அகத்தில் மனதின் தோற்ற ஒடுக்கங்களை உணர்வதே உண்மை ஞானமாகும்.

Rising, shrinking, going, the sleep of the eyes, regard, and the confusion of the moon are each asked where they are. The singer does not supply the places. He turns the list on the knowers who are able to lay a rule, and he tells them they must explain it at full length. Anyone who claims to ordain these states is told to speak them out, point by point.

The teaching

Sivavakkiyar directly confronts dogmatic scholars and scripture-ordained philosophers (விதிக்கவல்ல ஞானிகள்) who claim the authority to dictate spiritual rules, challenging them to explain the inner mechanics of consciousness. Where is the exact locus where awareness arises (உதிப்பது), and where does it dissolve back into silence (ஒடுங்குவது)? Where does the vital impulse of cosmic life (கதி) reside, and where does the mysterious sleep of the eyes (கண்ணுறக்கம் / deep sleep) occur? Where does intellectual discernment (மதி) stand, and where does mental delusion (மதிமயக்கம்) originate? Sivavakkiyar exposes the inadequacy of bookish dogma, demanding that those who claim spiritual mastery demonstrate direct experiential understanding of the mind's subtle states rather than parroting empty theological formulas.

1திரும்பியாடு வாசல்எட்டு திறம்உரைத்த வாசல்எட்டு,
2மருங்கிலாத கோலம்எட்டு வன்னியாடு வாசல்எட்டு,
3துரும்பிலாத கோலம்எட்டு சுற்றிவந்த மருளரே!
4அரும்பிலாத பூவும்உண்டு ஐயன்ஆணை உண்மையே!

புற எந்திரங்களையும் மந்திரக் கோலங்களையும் வரைந்து, கோயில்களைச் சுற்றிச் சுற்றி வரும் மூடர்களை சிவவாக்கியர் தட்டியெழுப்புகிறார். எட்டுவித பிராண வாசல்கள், எட்டுவித யோக நிலைகள், அக்னி சுடரும் எட்டு வழிகள், எண்கோண எந்திரங்கள் எனப் புறச் சடங்குகளிலும் வரைபடங்களிலும் சிக்குண்டு வாழ்க்கையை வீணே சுழன்று கழிக்கும் மருளர்களே! நீங்கள் தேடும் உண்மை புறத்தில் இல்லை. அரும்பாகத் தோன்றி மலராமல், பிறப்பு இறப்பற்ற நித்திய நிலையாய் கபால உச்சியில் தானே மலர்ந்து மணக்கும் சகஸ்ராரத் தாமரை என்னும் 'அரும்பிலாத பூ' ஒன்று உடலின் அகத்தே உண்டு! பரமசிவனின் ஆணைப்படி இதுவே அறுதியான உண்மை; புறச் சுற்றுகளை விடுத்து அந்த அக மலரைத் தரிசியுங்கள்.

Eight is repeated until it dizzies. Eight doors where the dance turns, eight doors whose nature was spoken, eight forms with no side, eight doors where fire dances, eight forms without so much as a straw. The people who come circling these eights are called the bewildered. Against all that counting the singer sets one flower that never budded. By the father's command, he says, that is the truth.

The teaching

Sivavakkiyar addresses the bewildered ritualists (சுற்றிவந்த மருளரே) who exhaust their lives circling external mandalas, geometric yantras, and temple corridors. Occult traditions map out eight revolving gateways of breath, eight explained portals, eight boundary-less forms, eight doors where the sacrificial fire dances, and eight subtle geometric figures. Worldly seekers spin endlessly in these outward rites and diagrams. Yet Sivavakkiyar cuts through all occult complexity to proclaim the ultimate esoteric truth, sealed by the Divine Father's unassailable command (ஐயன் ஆணை): there exists an unmanifest, divine Flower that blooms eternally without ever budding (அரும்பிலாத பூ)—the thousand-petaled Sahasrara lotus of pure spiritual illumination! True realization is not found in circling outward diagrams, but in awakening this self-existent flower of divine consciousness within.

1தானிருந்து மூலஅங்கி தணல்எழுப்பி வாயுவால்
2தேனிருந்து அறைதிறந்து தித்திஒன்று ஒத்ததே
3வானிருந்து மதியமூன்று தண்டலம் புகுந்தபின்
4ஊனிருந்து அளவுகொண்ட யோகிநல்ல யோகியே!

வாசி யோகத்தின் வழி மூலாதாரக் கனலை எழுப்பி கபால அமுதத்தைப் பருகும் காயசித்தி ரகசியத்தை சிவவாக்கியர் நேரடியாகப் பகர்கிறார். தகுந்த ஆசனத்தில் அமர்ந்து, பிராண வாயுவை உலையாகக் கொண்டு மூலாதாரத்தில் உறங்கும் மூல அக்னியைத் தணலாக மூட்டி எழுப்ப வேண்டும். அக்குண்டலினித் தீயானது சுழுமுனைத் தண்டின் வழியே கபால உச்சியை அடையும்போது, அங்கே பூட்டப்பட்ட அமுத அறை திறந்துகொள்கிறது; தித்திக்கும் தெய்வீக அமுதத் தேன் பெருக்கெடுத்து உடல் முழுதும் பரவுகிறது. சந்திர மண்டலத்தின் அமுத தாரை சுழுமுனை நரம்பில் பாய்ந்து உடலைத் தங்கமாக மாற்றுகிறது. ஊன் உடம்பில் இருந்துகொண்டே இத்தகைய யோக ரசவாதத்தை அனுபவித்து நிலைநிறுத்தும் யோகியே சிவவாக்கியர் போற்றும் தலைசிறந்த நல்யோகியாவான்.

A yogi is described from the inside. He sits, and by the wind he raises flame from the fire at the root. Honey is there, a chamber opens, and one sweetness matches. From the sky, three moons enter the circle of the staff. The printed தண்டலம் is compressed, a region or a circle joined to the staff. The yogi who stayed in the flesh and took the measure of this is called the good yogi.

The teaching

A magnificent, direct revelation of Vasi and Kundalini yoga and the nectar of immortality (அமிர்த தாரை / சோமபானம்). Seated in steady posture (தானிருந்து), the yogi kindles the dormant primal fire at the base of the spine (மூல அங்கி / Muladhara Agni) using the rhythmic life-breath as a bellows. As the fiery Kundalini ascends through the spinal column (தண்டலம் / Meru danda), the sealed chamber of the cranial vault unlocks (அறை திறந்து). Instantly, the divine lunar honey (தேன் / amrita) descends, flooding the organism with unearthly sweetness. When the luminous nectar of the triple moon (the mystic lunar phases of Sahasrara) saturates the central channel, the mortal vessel is divinized. The yogi who, while remaining inside this physical body of flesh (ஊனிருந்து), measures, experiences, and stabilizes this sacred alchemy is hailed by Sivavakkiyar as the true and perfect Yogi (நல்ல யோகி).
