The verse is a compressed itinerary, and it ends by telling you to know. A light draws inward. One stood at the navel, one in the middle place, and there is a climbing by the foot that walks. Two stand as if released. Truth comes with the body, and falsity comes too. Next to all of that stands the beginning that stood without a beginning. The line says: know that one.
The teaching
This verse maps the yogic ascent of prana through the subtle chakras. The practitioner gathers the scattered sensory currents into the inward-drawing light (ஒடுக்குகின்ற சோதி). Moving from the vital center at the navel (உந்தி / Manipura) through the middle sanctum of the heart (நடுத்தலம் / Anahata), the life-force climbs along the spinal pillar (காலில் ஏறி). The dual alternating breaths of Ida and Pingala (இருவர்) are released and transcended. In this intense internal pilgrimage where the mortal body's truth and illusory falsehood are laid bare, Sivavakkiyar urges the seeker to recognize the supreme mystery: the beginningless, primordial Source (அனாதி நின்ற ஆதி) that stands eternally intimate, closer to the soul than breath itself.
