Looking at the sastras again and again is said to make a person blind. With the eyes already ruined, fools still offer a formal praise to the hot one, the sun. The other way is put as a condition you must be able to meet. If you know the vessel and practice silent devotion, then according to the rule everyone becomes pure, and the line closes on thus. Book-looking and sun-praise are the blindness. Silent devotion, once the vessel is known, is the purity the rule names.
The teaching
Sivavakkiyar exposes the spiritual blindness induced by excessive scholasticism and mechanical ritualism. Endlessly poring over dry treatises, intellectual scriptures, and academic sastras does not illuminate the soul; it merely ruins inner perception, blinding the scholar with pedantic arrogance. Having ruined their inner vision, these intellectual fools stand outside, mechanically saluting and staring into the blazing physical sun with damaged eyes. The Siddha reveals the authentic path of transformation: one must recognize the true vessel (பாத்திரம்)—the human body and consciousness as the living chalice of the Divine—and engage in the communion of profound, wordless silence (மோன பக்தி / Mouna Bhakti). Following this esoteric principle (சூத்திரப்படி), every single human being, entirely liberated from caste barriers and academic dogmatism, is instantly purified and illuminated.
