  4. 4Saagalum piraththalum illai illai illaiyee!

Two have become one enjoyment and one person, and the song asks how enjoyment and coupling can still match. Once arising and perishing have happened in that very point, the conclusion is hammered three times. Dying and being born are not.

The teaching

The attainment of Sahaja Samadhi and the absolute conquest of mortality. Sivavakkiyar moves beyond dualistic notions of spiritual union—whether framed as the external coupling of male and female or the tantric duality of Shiva and Shakti. When the individual soul and the Divine coalesce into a singular, undivided enjoyment of being (ஏகபோகம்), the conventional concepts of spiritual enjoyment and union (போகமும் புணர்ச்சியும்) become entirely obsolete. In this transcendent center of awareness, cosmic manifestation and cosmic dissolution (ஆகலும் அழிதலும்) are simultaneously witnessed and resolved. Because the illusion of the separate ego has been dissolved at its very source, the dualities of birth and death are eradicated forever—there is neither dying nor being born

  1. 1Veedhamnaalum puudhamaay viravumangu niiradhaayp
  2. 2Paadhamee ilingamaayp parindhapuusai panninaal
  3. 3Kaadhininru kadaidhirandhu kattaruththa gnaanigal
  4. 4Aadhiandha mumgadandhu ariyaviidu adaivaree!

The four Vedas are elements, spreading there as water, and the foot itself is the linga. If the yearning worship is done in that way, the knowers who open the door from the ear and cut the bond cross beginning and end. They reach the rare home.

The teaching

The internalization of ritual worship and the opening of the subtle sensory gateways. External temple ceremonies and dry scriptural recitations are completely reimagined within the living landscape of the human body. The four Vedas are recognized as the primordial elements permeating the flesh, and the living feet of the indwelling Lord constitute the true, non-material Linga. When the practitioner worships this internal altar with deep yearning, the secret portal connected to the inner ear (காதினின்று கடைதிறந்து) is unlatched—attuning awareness to the mystical vibration of the Anahata Nada. By severing the ancient fetters of karmic conditioning, the illuminated Jnanis transcend the dualities of beginning and end, entering the rare, indestructible abode of eternal liberation.

Verse 128

  1. 1Paruththinuul murukkivittup panjiodhum maandharee!
  2. 2Thuruththinuul murukkivittuth thunpamniinga valliireel
  3. 3Karuththilnuul kalaippadu kaalanuul kazhindhidum
  4. 4Thiruththinuul kavalarum sivaayaanju ezhuththumee.

People twist cotton thread and recite cotton, and the song mocks that spinning. A second thread is the bellows. If that one can be twisted until sorrow leaves, the thread in the mind becomes an art, the thread of time passes, and the thread that sets things right, the one that ends fretting, is the five letters Sivaya.

The teaching

A stinging denunciation of the external sacred thread (பூணூல்) and the revelation of the true yogic cord. Sivavakkiyar mocks orthodox priests who meticulously spin cotton fibers, chanting over dead cotton threads while imagining themselves spiritually sanctified. The true sacred thread is the thread of the bellows (துருத்தி நூல்)—the vital breath (prana) moving through the lungs and the subtle nadis. If the practitioner can consciously regulate and spin this pranic current through Vasi yoga, existential suffering dissolves, mental consciousness is refined into luminous gnosis, and the dreaded noose of time and death (கால நூல் / Yama's snare) is severed. The only sacred thread that permanently purifies consciousness and banishes all affliction is the Five Letters: Sivaya

  1. 1Saavadhaana thaththuvas sadanguseyyum uumaigaal
  2. 2Theevargallum aavaro? sirippadhanri enseyveen?
  3. 3Muuvaraalum ariyonaadha mukkananmudhar kozhundhu
  4. 4Kaavalaaga ummulee kalandhiruppan kaanumee.

Dumb ones perform the rite of a careful tattva, and the singer laughs. Do the gods become stone as well? What else is there to do but laugh? The three cannot know the first shoot of the three-eyed one. See that he stays mixed in you as the guard.

The teaching

A ferocious Siddha critique of idol worship and the blind performance of theological rituals. Sivavakkiyar expresses scornful laughter at dumb ritualists who exhaust themselves performing intricate, mechanical ceremonies according to scholastic dogmas How can a chiseled slab of stone ever become the living God The primordial sprout of consciousness—the Three-Eyed Lord who remains incomprehensible even to the cosmic Trinity (Brahma, Vishnu, and Rudra)—is not imprisoned in an external stone shrine. He resides perpetually mingled within the seeker's own breath and consciousness as their eternal protector and witness.

Verse 130

  1. 1Kaalaimaalai niirilee muzhugumandha muudargaal
  2. 2Kaalaimaalai niirilee kidandhadheerai enperum
  3. 3Kaalamee ezhundhirundhu kangalmuunril onrinaal
  4. 4Muulamee ninaippiraagil muththisiththi yaagumee.

Fools dive in water morning and evening. The song asks what one gains from the frog that lies in that same water. Rise at the time itself, and with one of the three eyes meditate on the root. Then release and power come.

The teaching

The absurdity of external ritual ablutions (தீர்த்தாடனம்) versus the internal awakening of the Third Eye. Sivavakkiyar ridicules the orthodox practice of plunging into cold rivers at dawn and dusk to wash away sins. If mere submersion in water could confer spiritual liberation, the frog that remains immersed in that same river day and night would surely attain enlightenment! The true spiritual dawn requires waking up to higher consciousness and opening the Third Eye of wisdom By fixing one's contemplation upon the Primordial Root (மூலம் / Muladhara and Supreme Source) through this inner eye, spiritual liberation (முத்தி) and supernatural yogic perfections (சித்தி) are effortlessly attained.

Verse 131

  1. 1Engaldheevar ungaldheevar enrirandu theevaro?

  3. 3Angumingum aagininra aadhimuurththi onralo?
  4. 4Vangavaaram sonnapeergal vaaypuzhuththu maalvaree.

Are there two gods because one mouth says ours and another says yours? Are there two because one stands there and one stands here? The primal form that is both there and here is asked as one. People who spoke the compressed factional word வங்கவாரம் will die with a mouth gone to worms.

The teaching

A scathing assault on sectarian bigotry, religious factionalism, and theological arrogance. Sivavakkiyar violently rejects the tribalist delusion that divides the Divine into competing sectarian camps—arguing over "our God" versus "your God," or localizing the Divine as residing "here" but not "there." The Primordial Supreme Being (ஆதிமூர்த்தி) is an absolute, indivisible Unity that equally permeates all spaces, beings, and dimensions. Those deceitful partisans who propagate sectarian hatred and malicious divisions (வங்கவாரம்) commit spiritual treason against the Truth; the poet sternly declares that their mouths will rot with worms as the karmic consequence of their toxic dogma.
