Silence is a liquid at evening and at morning. It strains off and then surges. The verse addresses people who have known the way that, with evening, becomes morning, and it tells them not to crook the root. A red flame has sprouted. The last line is compressed. With the tālai of the print, the drink withdrawn, a silence stayed. Dawn, dusk, and a flame are one unbent quiet.

The teaching

Sivavakkiyar reveals the esoteric significance of the twilight junctures (Sandhya—dusk and dawn) in Siddha Vasi yoga. These temporal thresholds are not meant for external water oblations, but represent the vital transition when the breath balances between the solar and lunar nadis. At this juncture, the divine silence (மோனம்) distills and surges through the system. Addressing those who understand this inner transition, he warns against distorting or abusing the primal energetic foundation (the root triangular yantra at the Muladhara). When the root energy is maintained in pristine purity, the crimson flame of Kundalini (செஞ்சுடர்) sprouts and ascends unhindered. Renouncing all base worldly intoxications, the seeker is immersed in that steadfast, eternal Silence that outlasts day and night.

Verse 348

Speed enters the street of silence. The Nada addressed has been standing there in a rush. The speed is speed without meanness, and the line marvels at it. In a corner of the forest, in a tail that had ripened, the red flame of knowledge walked. What walked is Sivayam. Hurry, ripeness, and a walking flame are one motion, and the motion has the name.

The teaching

This verse captures the thrilling, dynamic velocity of spiritual awakening. Along the serene highway of internal silence (மோனமான வீதி), the primordial sound-current (நாதம்) accelerates with breathtaking, immaculate swiftness. This is no erratic, worldly rush, but the pure, unhindered surge of awakened prana. In the secluded, forest-like corner of the subtle body—the deep recesses of the inner sanctum—the youthful power of Kundalini (வாலை) ripens into full spiritual maturity. From this ripened center, the brilliant crimson flame of wisdom (ஞானமான செஞ்சுடர்) strides forth across the centers of consciousness. That majestic, unstoppable inner movement is the living, pulsating embodiment of Sivaya(ma).

Verse 349

  1. 1Uchchimaththi viidhiyil ozhindhirundha saadhiyil

  4. 4Kachchiyaana monamee, kadandhadhee sivaayamee.

The last of this run stands at the center of the crown, on its street, in a kind the line calls சாதி, a word that also means caste, which stayed left aside. A moon turns green, spreads, and moves. Then three names are set in a row: the lamp that is a bright flame, the silence that is meditation, and the silence the line calls kacchi. What passed beyond them is Sivayam. Crossing, not arriving at a city, is the close.

The teaching

In this triumphant culmination of the decad, Sivavakkiyar stands at the pinnacle of spiritual realization—the royal highway atop the crown of the head In this exalted cranial sanctum, all artificial social hierarchies, pedigree, and caste distinctions (சாதி) are utterly eradicated and left behind. As the mystic moon showers its cooling, rejuvenating ambrosia across the subtle organism, the seeker beholds the radiant lamp of pure awareness (செச்சியான தீபம்) and merges into progressive depths of contemplative silence (தியானமான மோனம்). Transcending even these sublime yogic milestones, what remains as the boundless, unconditioned, and eternal Reality beyond all boundaries is Sivaya(ma).

Verse 350

  1. 1Anjugombil ninrunaadham aalaipol ezhumbiyee

  4. 4Panjapuudham aanadhee parandhuninra monamee.

A sound is already standing on five branches, and it is driven up the way juice is forced up in a press. The bud opens with that rising, and the purity named here is the purity that has reached the brow. When the red flame breaks out, the guide comes loose, so the teacher is no longer a hold in the hand. What has become the five elements is that same rising, left as a silence spread in the place where the sound stood.

The teaching

Sivavakkiyar maps the alchemical trajectory of internal Kundalini yoga. The primal unstruck sound (நாதம்) awakens across the five branching subtle chakras and sensory channels, crushed and driven upward through the central spinal column (சுழுமுனை) like sugarcane pressed in a mill. As this intense vital fire ascends, the spiritual bud unfolds into the thousand-petaled Sahasrara lotus, bathing the forehead and crown in pristine, immaculate purity (சுத்தம்). When the brilliant crimson flame of supreme consciousness (செஞ்சுடர்) bursts forth at the apex, even the external guru (தேசிகன்) or the dualistic framework of disciple and guide naturally slips away, having fulfilled its purpose. The gross five elements dissolve back into their unmanifest source, leaving only the boundless, soaring silence (மோனம்) that pervades the entire cosmos.

Verse 351

  1. 1Sadudhiyaana kombilee thaththuvaththin iyalilee
  2. 2Adudhiyaana aavilee aranirundha uuvilee
  3. 3Idudhi enra solaiyil irundhamus sudarilee
  4. 4Nadudhi enru naadhamodi nangura amaindhadhee.

The song moves from the rising sound into four tight names set in a row: the sudden branch, a breath, a grove, and a middle where the sound runs and settles. Each name sits in a place, and the places are a tattva's own nature, the vowel where Hara is seated, and a triple flame. The printed wording is compressed, so the four names stay as the line gives them. What the run arrives at is plain: the sound goes and then sits well.

The teaching

In the profound stillness of meditation (மோனம்), the three mystical internal fires—Sun, Moon, and Agni, corresponding to the subtle nadis Ida, Pingala, and Sushumna—converge into a single, piercing flame of transcendent light. The vital winds that formerly scattered across the five sensory faculties and bodily gates are harnessed and drawn into the cranial vortex (சுழி), where the unuttered supreme mantra (Ajapa Gayatri / Sivayanama) reverberates effortlessly of its own accord. Through this internal alchemy, the practitioner's pure soul (உயிர்) breaks free from its confining attachment to the perishable, fleshy cage of the physical body (ஊனமான கூடு) and merges irrevocably with the infinite, deathless Life-principle of Shiva.

Verse 352

  1. 1Amaiyumaalin monamum aranirundha monamum
  2. 2Samaiyumbuudha monamum thariththirundha monamum
  3. 3Imaiyumgonda veegamum ilangumuchchi monamum
  4. 4Thamaiyarindha maandharee sadaththaiutru nokkilaar.

Silence is counted in kinds: the silence of Mal as he comes to rest, the silence where Hara sits, the silence of elements being brought to readiness, the silence that has been worn, the speed held in the blink, and the shining silence at the crown. The list is a map of stillness through god, element, eye, and head. Then the line turns on the people who know themselves. Their knowledge shows in this: they do not keep their gaze fixed on the corpse.

The teaching

Sivavakkiyar employs classic agricultural and Advaitic imagery to describe radical spiritual purification. Just as a diligent farmer painstakingly weeds out invasive tares from a flourishing crop to ensure an abundant harvest, the Siddha systematically purges the seven illusory bodily constituents (dhatus) and karmic modifications that choke the soul. He invokes the celebrated metaphor of the rope and the snake: cosmic illusion (மாயை) possesses no independent reality, appearing real only through ignorance like a snake perceived in a coiled piece of rope. Severing this phantom snare as decisively and effortlessly as slicing a single strand of hair, all false dualities, egoic claims, and mortal fears perish, leaving only the pristine, self-luminous reality of Sivayanama.
