இறைவனைத் தமக்கு அப்பாற்பட்ட ஒரு தனிப் பொருளாகக் கருதி, 'பிரானே! எம்பெருமானே!' என்று வாய்வலிக்கக் கூவிப் பிதற்றும் சடங்குவாதிகளைச் சிவவாக்கியர் மூடர்கள் என இடித்துரைக்கிறார். எங்கும் நீக்கமற நிறைந்த பரம்பொருள் உங்களை விட்டும், இந்த உலகத்தை விட்டும் தனித்துப் பிரிந்து நிற்பது எவ்வாறு சாத்தியமாகும்? அவனே உயிராகவும், அவனே தலைவனாகவும், இந்த விரிந்த பேருலகமாகவும் விளங்குகிறான். உங்கள் உடம்பே அந்த ஆதிப் பிரானாகிய நிலத்திலிருந்து முளைத்தெழுந்த ஒரு ஞானப் பயிராகும்! இவ்வாறு தனது உடம்பே இறைவனின் பிரிக்க முடியாத வடிவம் என்பதை உணராமல், அவனைத் தொலைதூர வானத்தில் தேடி அலையும் மனிதர்கள் பித்துப் பிடித்தவர்களே அன்றி வேறில்லை.

Lord, Lord, is called babble, and the people who say it are called fools. The question that follows is almost tender in its logic. If you leave the Lord, how did our Lord ever come to be separate? Becoming the Lord, and again the Lord, and becoming the great world itself, are one continuous claim. The body being looked out of is what sprouted and rose in him. Muttering the name holds him at a distance. The body is the evidence that there was no distance.

The teaching

Sivavakkiyar rebukes the thoughtless religionists who mechanically repeat "Lord! Lord!" (பிரான் பிரான்), projecting the Divine as an external monarch residing in a distant celestial heaven. If the Divine is genuinely all-pervading, how could our Lord ever be separated from you or the universe? The Lord has become the seeker, has become the Lord, and has become the vast cosmos itself. The very physical body through which the mortal looks out and breathes is not an unclean prison, but a living sprout that has germinated and risen directly from the divine substance (பிரானிலே முளைத்தெழுந்த). To project the Lord as far away while inhabiting a body that is a direct manifestation of His being is the height of spiritual delusion.

A long refusal clears the ground. There is no beginning, and the gloss gives அந்தம் as the end, so there is no end. There are not the four Vedas, no radiance, no utterance, only the pure expanse where speech has died. No law, no love, and nothing that has failed to become certain. The last clause is compressed in the print. After the beginning has been seen and taken, even that fivefold flourishing the letters spell is not there. Arrival cancels the signs that pointed toward it.

The teaching

A thunderous proclamation of the ultimate Siddha Void (Sunya / தூவெளி) that obliterates all philosophical and theological constructs. In the summit of absolute realization, all categories collapse: there is no temporal beginning (ஆதி), no cosmic end (அந்தம்), no four Vedas, no manifest light, no spoken utterance—only the immaculate, silent Open Expanse beyond speech (சொல்லிறந்த தூவெளி). All moral codes (நீதி), emotional attachments (நேசம்), and intellectual certitudes dissolve. Even the sacred Five Letters (அஞ்செழுத்து), which served as the indispensable raft to cross the waters of delusion, are discarded once the Primordial Reality is directly beheld. At the pinnacle of non-dual awakening, all words, mantras, and concepts dissolve into pure, silent Being.

Ammai-appan, mother and father in one, is named four times, and each time the hearer is closer to a mistake. When that father sat, you did not know. You who became Ammai-appan are the bond of the primal one. The verse then repeats, almost as a chant: apart from you there is no one, and apart from you there is not. The repetition is the point. This is not a figure kept in a shrine. The bond, and the absence of anyone else, are both this one.

The teaching

Through a hypnotic, insistent repetition of "Ammai-Appan" (Mother-Father / the indwelling Ardhanarishvara), Sivavakkiyar shatters dualistic religion. When the Divine Parents took up residence within your very soul, you remained blind to their presence. You yourself are that primordial union of Shiva and Shakti, currently entangled in the cosmic rope of worldly attachment (பாசம்). Once this veil of delusion is pierced, the staggering truth of Advaita dawns: apart from You—the indwelling Self—there is absolutely no one else, no external creator, and no independent existence anywhere in the universe. Divine reality and the realized Self are completely and eternally one.

Verse 421

1முந்தஓர் எழுத்துளே முளைத்தெழந்த செஞ்சுடர்
2அந்தஓர் எழுத்துளே பிறந்துகாயம் ஆனதும்
3அந்தஓர் எழுத்துளே ஏகமாகி நின்றதும்

One letter is prior to the rest of the account. In that earlier letter a red flame sprouted and rose. In that same letter, what was born became a body. In that same letter, what stood had become one. The instruction is plain: know that letter too, and realize it. Body and flame are not given separate origins. The verse keeps returning to a single written sound as the place where rising, embodiment, and union already happened.

The teaching

Sivavakkiyar focuses the entirety of cosmic manifestation into a single primordial Seed-Letter (அந்த ஓர் எழுத்து — the Pranava Omkara or the esoteric root sound). Within that singular sound, the blazing crimson fire of Kundalini (செஞ்சுடர்) originally sprouted and surged upward. Within that very letter, the physical human body took birth and assumed its material form. Within that same letter, all apparent multiplicity dissolves back into indivisible, supreme Oneness (ஏகமாகி நின்றது). The poet urges the seeker to move beyond outer scripts and intellectually realize that singular primal Letter, for it holds the complete cipher to cosmic creation, bodily embodiment, and final spiritual liberation.

கூட்டங் கூட்டமாய் ஒன்று கூடி, ஏட்டுச் சுவடிகளைப் பார்த்து உரத்த குரலில் வேதம் ஓதுவதால் மட்டுமே ஈசனைக் கண்டுவிட முடியுமா என்று சிவவாக்கியர் ஏளனம் செய்கிறார். மை பூசிய பனை ஓலை ஏடுகளிலும் வெற்று அட்சரக் கூட்டங்களுக்குள்ளும் சர்வ வியாபியான பரம்பொருள் சிறைப்பட்டுப் போவானா? 'நாலு மூன்று' எனப்படும் ஏழு ஆதாரச் சக்கரங்களின் வழியே (மூலாதாரம் முதல் சகஸ்ராரம் வரை) வாசிப் பார்வையை நிலைநிறுத்தி (நாட்டம் இட்டு) உள்நோக்கித் தியானித்தால், கபாலத்து ஆனந்த நடன அரங்கில் (ஆட்டகம்) ஆதிபராசக்தியின் ஆனந்தத் திருநடனம் கண்கூடாக நிகழும். இதுவே சாட்சாத் ஜகந்மாதாவின் ஆணையாகச் சொல்லப்படும் மறுக்க முடியாத சத்தியமாகும்.

A crowd is formed, and the same people gather to recite the Veda. The singer asks what it would mean for the Lord to be inside a palm-leaf book, inside a letter of that book. The search that counts is a search with an aim, inside four and three. The gloss is exact: ஆட்டகம் is the place where the dance of bliss is danced. Inside that place, the Mother's command that dances is called the truth. The manuscript gathering is left behind.

The teaching

Orthodox scholars assemble in crowded halls, chanting the Vedas in loud unison and imagining that the Supreme Lord is captured within palm-leaf manuscripts and written ink. Sivavakkiyar mocks this scholastic pretension: how could the infinite Creator be imprisoned inside letters inscribed on a leaf? True spiritual seeking requires disciplined inner focus (நாட்டம் இட்டு) aimed into the "four and three"—the esoteric seven chakras along the subtle spinal column. Within that supreme inner stage (ஆட்டகம் / the sanctum of the Sahasrara), the Divine Mother's sovereign decree executes the blissful, ecstatic dance of consciousness. This living internal experience is the only absolute Truth.

The opening line is compressed. It cites the reason the tortoise adepts gave for the crow's beak, a yogic shaping rather than a tale about animals. What follows is physical: plant the tongue, curl it inward, and pass along the channel of knowledge. The gloss gives ஏக்கை as yearning. If with that yearning one praises the letter, both of the two letters, every direction looked at has become the supreme Brahman. A small act in the mouth is said to change the field of sight.

The teaching

An explicit revelation of advanced Siddha yogic techniques: Kaki Mudra (the crow's beak breath) and Kechari Mudra (curling the tongue inward like a tortoise drawing in its head). By anchoring the tongue against the soft palate and directing the subtle breath through the central nerve of wisdom (ஞானநாடி / Sushumna), the practitioner ascends beyond ordinary sensory awareness. When the seeker directs their yearning awareness (ஏக்கை நோக்கி) toward the two sacred seed letters ('Si-Va' or 'A-U'), the veil of dualistic perception instantly dissolves. Every single direction the mystic turns their eyes (பார்த்த பார்த்த திக்கெல்லாம்) is transformed into the radiant, all-pervading splendor of Para-Brahman.
