They want onlookers to honor them as people who eat the body itself, the doubled word left tight in the print. Everywhere they work arts of illusion and a fraud kept tucked in the fold. The reason they wander is stated as a cause: at the hour they smoke cannabis and eat opium straight. Then they go about the land like dogs, licking and sniffing. The esteem they posed for and the drug they take belong to one picture.
The teaching
Sivavakkiyar unmasks the despicable charlatans who pretend to practice the secret Siddha art of physical rejuvenation and immortality (காய கல்பம் / Kaya Kalpa). Craving the reverence and awe of society, these impostors stage elaborate illusions and deceitful tricks (மாயவித்தை / மடிப்புமோசம்) to convince onlookers that they have transcended physical mortality. Yet in secret, far from sustaining themselves on the divine nectar of higher consciousness, they are hopelessly enslaved to physical intoxicants—routinely smoking cannabis and consuming raw opium. Dazed by chemical stupor, their grand pretensions collapse into wretched animal degradation, wandering the land like scavenging dogs sniffing and licking for scraps. The Siddha delivers an uncompromising warning against confusing narcotic intoxication with genuine spiritual illumination.
