The questions are aimed at you, and they honor rather than insult. Are you the five letters dancing in the sky? Are you also the supreme consciousness, spread and standing as small shoots? Our Lord is the one enjoyment of every living being, and because that is so, the existence that is both our Lord and myself is Sivayam. The name is identified from the inside of the hearer. Letters, consciousness, the Lord, and the speaker's own being are gathered, and the gathering is given the name.
The teaching
A breathtaking Advaitic dialogue celebrating absolute identity between the seeker, the universe, and the Divine. Sivavakkiyar addresses the awakened consciousness: Are you not the sacred Five Letters dancing joyfully in the cosmic ether of the heart (அம்பரம்)? Are you not the Supreme Consciousness (சிற்பரம்) that sprouts and branches out as all manifest life? Because our Supreme Lord is the single, undivided experiencer and delight (ஏகபோகம்) pulsating within every living creature, the apparent duality between the Lord and the individual self dissolves completely. In this sublime state of non-dual realization, the unified existence of the Lord and myself is revealed to be the eternal, living reality of 'Sivayam'.
