1தத்துவங்கள் என்றுநீர் தமைக்கடிந்து போவீர்காள்
2தத்துவம் சிவமதாகில் தற்பரமும் நீரல்லோ?
3முத்திசீவன் நாதமே மூலபாதம் வைத்தப்பின்
4அத்தனாரும் உம்முளே அறிந்துணர்ந்து கொள்ளுமே.

தொண்ணூற்றாறு தத்துவங்களையும் புலன் மாயைகளையும் வெறும் பாவங்கள் என்றும் தீட்டுகள் என்றும் கருதி, தங்களைத்தாங்களே வருத்திக்கொண்டு உலகை வெறுத்து ஒதுக்கும் போலித் துறவிகளை இப்பாடல் தலைகீழாகத் திருப்புகிறது. பிரபஞ்சத்தின் சகல தத்துவங்களும் பரசிவத்தின் பிரகாசமே என்றால், அந்தத் தத்துவங்களின் வடிவாக நிற்கும் நீங்களும் சாட்சாத் தற்பரப் பிரம்மமே அல்லவா? மூலாதாரக் கனலை நாத விந்துவோடு இணைத்துச் சுழுமுனையில் நிலைநிறுத்தி, சீவனானது முக்தி நிலையை அடையும்போது, வானுலகில் எங்கோ இருக்கும் கற்பனைத் தெய்வம் அல்ல, உங்கள் இதயக் கமலத்திலேயே சாட்சியாய் உறையும் அப்பனாகிய பரசிவனே விழிப்புணர்வாகப் பிரகாசிக்கிறான் என்பதை உணருங்கள் என அத்வைத உண்மை பகரப்படுகிறது.

The verse turns on people who say 'tattvas' and then drive those tattvas away. If a tattva is itself Siva, the singer asks, are you not that supreme as well? The turn is inward. After the Nada of the freed soul sets the root foot, even the Father is known and understood inside you. Rejection of the principles is exposed as rejection of yourself.

The teaching

Sivavakkiyar challenges ascetic world-denial and dry intellectual categorization. Many seekers spend their lives mechanically enumerating and battling the ninety-six tattvas (bodily and mental principles), viewing them as defilements to be suppressed. Sivavakkiyar overturns this dualism: since all tattvas are themselves emanations of Shiva, why despise them? If the world-principles are divine, then the seeker too is inherently the Supreme Reality (தற்பரமும் நீரல்லோ). When the individual soul ascends via the subtle sound-current (Nada) and anchors its awareness in the primal ground of being, all inner conflict ceases. The seeker recognizes that the Divine Father is not an external judge presiding in the heavens, but the silent, intimate witness dwelling within one's own consciousness.

1மூன்றுபத்து மூன்றையும் மூன்றுசொன்ன மூலனே
2தோன்றுசேர ஞானிகாள் துய்யபாதம் என்தலை
3என்றுவைத்த வைத்தபின் இயல்பும் அஞ்செழுத்தையும்
4தோன்றஓத வல்லீரேல் துய்யசோதி காணுமே.

யோக உடற்கூறியலையும் ஞான தீட்சையையும் இணைத்துப் பேசும் அரிய பாடல் இது. முதுகுத்தண்டின் முப்பத்துமூன்று எலும்பு மூட்டுகளையும் (முப்பத்து முக்கோடி தேவர்களையும்), இடை, பிங்கலை, சுழுமுனை ஆகிய முச்சரங்களையும் இயக்கும் மூலப்பொருளே சற்குருவாகும். சற்குருவின் ஞானத் திருவடி சீடனின் கபால உச்சியில் (சகஸ்ரதளத்தில்) தீட்சையாக வைக்கப்படும்போது, குண்டலினி விழித்தெழுகிறது. அதன் பின்னர், அஞ்செழுத்தை வெறும் உதட்டுச்சொல்லாக அன்றி, தன் ஆன்மாவின் இயல்பான சுவாசமாகவும் அஜபா ஜபமாகவும் இடைவிடாது உள்வாங்கித் தியானிக்க வல்லவர்களுக்கு, மாய இருள் நீங்கி, களங்கமற்ற சுயம்பிரகாச ஜோதிமயம் (துய்ய சோதி) உள்ளுக்குள்ளேயே கண்கூடாய்த் தோன்றி முக்தி அளிக்கும்.

The root who uttered the three is asked to gather the thirty-three as well. The singer offers his own head: let the pure foot be placed there, where what appears comes together. After that placing, a condition is set. If you can recite your own nature and the five letters so that they actually appear, the pure light will be seen. Chanting is judged by whether the light shows.

The teaching

In this verse, Sivavakkiyar integrates yogic anatomy with spiritual initiation. The thirty-three cosmic principles or gods (symbolizing also the thirty-three vertebrae of the spinal column) and the classic triad (the triple currents of Ida, Pingala, and Sushumna) are all generated by the singular primordial Root. Realization is catalyzed when the pure foot of divine grace—the holy footstep of the Sadguru (Shaktipat)—is firmly planted upon the disciple's crown (the Sahasrara lotus). Once this cranial awakening occurs, if the seeker chants the Five Letters not as mechanical lip-service but as the revelation of their own innate spiritual essence (இயல்பு), the dazzling, immaculate Radiance of pure consciousness (துய்ய சோதி) bursts forth in full self-evidence.

1உம்பர் வானகத்தினும் உலகபாரம் ஏழினும்
2நம்பர்நாடு தன்னிலும் நாவலென்ற தீவினும்
3செம்பொன் மாடம் மல்குதில்லை அம்பலத்துள் ஆடுவான்
4எம்பிரான் அலாதுதெய்வம் இல்லை இல்லை இல்லையே.

அண்டசராசரங்களையும் மனித இதயத்தையும் ஆட்சி செய்யும் பிரபஞ்ச நடன நாயகனின் அத்வைத ஏகத்துவத்தை இப்பாடல் கம்பீரமாகப் பிரகடனம் செய்கிறது. மேலுலக தேவர்கள் வாழும் வானிலும், பாதாளம் உள்ளிட்ட ஏழ் உலகங்களிலும், புண்ணிய பூமி எனப்படும் நாவலந்தீவிலும் தேடிப் பார்த்தாலும், தில்லைச் சிற்றம்பலத்தில் ஞானக்கூத்தாடும் ஆனந்த நடராஜனைத் தவிர வேறொரு தெய்வம் எங்குமே இல்லை என்று மும்முறை அடித்துச் சொல்கிறார் சிவவாக்கியார். இங்கு தில்லை அம்பலம் என்பது வெறும் புறக் கோயிலைக் குறிக்காது; ஒவ்வொரு மனிதனின் சிதாகாச வெளியையும் (இதய வெளியையும்) குறிக்கும். அந்த அகவெளியில் ஓயாது துடிக்கும் ஜீவ ஒளியே எம்பிரானாகிய பரம்பொருள்; அதையன்றி புறத்தே உருவகப்படுத்தப்படும் போலித் தெய்வங்கள் அனைத்தும் வெறும் மனக்கற்பனைகளே.

The claim runs through every place the line can name. In the sky of the celestials, among the seven burdens of the world, in the land called Nambar, and in the island called Naval, the verdict is the same. Where red-gold towers throng, inside Tillai's hall, there is the one who dances. Other than our Lord, the line says three times, there is no god.

The teaching

With unshakeable conviction and absolute poetic majesty, Sivavakkiyar proclaims the sole reality of the dancing Lord of Consciousness. Searching across the celestial skies, the seven heavy tiers of the cosmos, sacred pilgrimage geography, and the vast continent of mortals (நாவலந்தீவு), he discovers that all disparate deities are illusory projections. The true cosmic dancer does not reside merely within a physical brick-and-mortar temple in Chidambaram (தில்லை); His true golden sanctum (சிதம்பர சபை) is the spacious expanse of the awakened heart (சிதாகாசம்). Beyond this intimate, omnipresent Lord who dances as the vital pulse of every living creature, there is no other God—a truth the Siddha seals with a resounding, threefold negation of all sectarian idolatry.

பஞ்சபூதங்களும் அவற்றின் தன்மாத்திரைகளும் பரம்பொருளின் விஸ்வரூபப் பிரகாசமே என்பதை விவரிக்கும் அற்புதமான விசுவ தத்துவப் பாடல். ஐந்து குணங்கள் (ஓசை, ஊறு, உருவம், சுவை, நாற்றம்) கொண்ட நிலமாகவும், நான்கு குணங்கள் கொண்ட நீராகவும், மூன்று குணங்கள் கொண்ட தீயாகவும், இரண்டு குணங்கள் கொண்ட காற்றாகவும், ஒரு குணமுடைய ஆகாயமாகவும் பிரிந்து நின்று உலகை ஆக்குவது பரசிவத்தின் பேராற்றலேயாகும். இவ்வண்ணம் உலகாயதப் பொருள்களாகவும் உயிருள்ள-உயிரற்ற சகல கூறுகளாகவும் நீயே விரிந்து நிற்கின்றாய் எனில், நீயல்லாத பொருள் இவ்வுலகில் எதுவுமே இல்லை என்ற ஏகத்துவ நேர்மையை (அத்வைத உண்மையை) புறப்பார்வை கொண்ட மனிதர்களால் எவ்வாறு காண முடியும்?

The elements are counted downward, each with its number. Earth as five, water as four, fire as three, the excellent wind as two, and a one whose printed name is வேய். They stand as natures that differ, and then the verse asks a hard question. The rightness that would stand other than you — who is able to see it? The count of the world is being returned to the person addressed.

The teaching

Sivavakkiyar delivers a majestic cosmological revelation grounded in the five cosmic elements (பஞ்ச பூதங்கள்) and their subtle sensory properties (தன்மாத்திரைகள்). He counts the involution of matter: Earth possessing five attributes (sound, touch, form, taste, smell), Water possessing four, Fire possessing three, Wind possessing two, and Ether possessing one. Though these elements appear to ordinary minds as diverse, conflicting physical substances, the Siddha sees them as nothing other than the multifaceted garment of the Divine. The entire material universe is God’s immanent manifestation. Sivavakkiyar asks who possesses the non-dual vision to realize that nothing in existence—no atom, element, or sensation—stands separate from the supreme Self (நீயலாமல் நின்ற நேர்மை).

Verse 310

1அந்தரத்தில் ஒன்றுமாய் அசைவுகால் இரண்டுமாய்
2செந்தழலில் மூன்றுமாய்ச் சிறந்தஅப்பு நான்குமாய்
3ஐந்துபாரில் ஐந்துமாய் அமர்ந்திருந்த நாதனைச்

ஆகாயத்தின் சூட்சும ஒலியிலிருந்து தொடங்கி ஸ்தூல பிருதிவி (பூமி) வரை பஞ்சபூத தத்துவங்களாக விரிந்து நிற்கும் சிருஷ்டி ரகசியத்தை இப்பாடல் உரைக்கிறது. வானில் ஒன்றாகவும், காற்றில் இரண்டாகவும், தீயில் மூன்றாகவும், நீரில் நான்காகவும், நிலத்தில் ஐந்தாகவும் திகழும் பூத பௌதிகப் பிரபஞ்சம் முழுவதும் நிறைந்து நிற்கும் பரம்பொருளை, மனித மனம் அறிய முடியாமல் போனதற்குக் காரணம் அவிச்சையாகிய மாயைத் திரையே ஆகும். புறத்தே மாயையின் ஆதிக்கத்தால் தோன்றும் பன்முகத் தோற்றங்களைக் கடந்து, தன் சிந்தையிலேயே அந்த மூலநாதனை உள்ளொளியாக உணர்ந்து மாயையை அறுத்தெறியும் மெய்ஞ்ஞானி இவ்வுலகில் மிக அரிதானவரே என்று விவரிக்கிறார்.

The count is spoken again, now from the fine toward the gross, and the one who sat through it is named Nada. One in the inner sky, two in the moving wind, three in the red flame, four in excellent water, five on the fivefold earth. Then the same kind of question returns. The maya that grew clear in the mind — who is able to see it? Clearing is not the same as having a spectator.

The teaching

Tracing the cosmogenic unfolding from the subtle ether down to gross earth, Sivavakkiyar reveals the omnipresence of the Supreme Lord (நாதன்). God is the singular vibration of space, the dual nature of the moving breath, the threefold flame of digestive and yogic fire, the fourfold fluid of vitality, and the fivefold solidity of the physical body. When the mind pierces through the hypnotic veil of cosmic illusion (மாயை) and stabilizes in pristine stillness, it recognizes that the universe is not an obstacle to spiritual attainment, but the living body of the Lord Himself. Yet rare is the enlightened soul who possesses the inner clarity to perceive this truth beyond the distorting prism of sensory delusion.

Verse 311

1மனவிகாரம் அற்றுநீர் மதித்திருக்க வல்லீரேல்
2நினைவிலாத மணிவிளக்கு நித்தமாகி நின்றிடும்;
3அனைவர் ஓதும் வேதமும் அகம்பிதற்ற வேணுமேல்
4கனவுகண்டது உண்மைநீர் தெளிந்ததே சிவாயமே.

சித்தர் தத்துவத்தின் தலையாய இலக்கான மனோலயத்தையும் நனவிலிப் பேரொளியையும் இப்பாடல் படம்பிடித்துக் காட்டுகிறது. காமம், குரோதம், பேத உணர்வுகள் போன்ற சகல மனவிகாரங்களையும் வேரறுத்து, அசைவற்ற மௌன தியானத்தில் விழிப்புணர்வோடு நிலைத்திருக்க வல்லவருக்கு, எண்ணங்களற்ற சுயம்ஜோதியான மணிவிளக்கு (நினைவிலாத மணிவிளக்கு) உள்ளே அணையாமல் நித்தியமாகப் பிரகாசிக்கும். வேதங்களை வாய் ஓயாமல் உரக்கப் பிதற்றும் போலிப் பண்டிதர்களின் ஆரவாரம் எல்லாம் விழிப்பற்ற கனவு நிலையே போன்றது; மன விகாரங்கள் நீங்கிப் பிறக்கும் சுத்த அத்வைத மௌனப் பெருவெளியில் துலங்கும் சிவாயமே சாசுவதமான நிஜமாகும்.

The advice is plain and hard. If you can remain attentive once the mind's disturbance is gone, a jewel-lamp that has no thought will stand as the eternal. The Veda everyone recites is then suspected of babbling inside. Against that noise the verse sets two claims: what was seen as a dream is the truth, and what you have clarified is Sivayam.

The teaching

Sivavakkiyar cuts to the core of Advaitic self-realization and mental quietude. Spiritual liberation does not lie in loud, ostentatious recitations of the Vedas, which often amount to nothing more than internal egoic babble and pride. If a seeker can purge the mind of its restless distortions, cravings, and dualistic agitations (மனவிகாரம் அற்று), a thought-free jewel-lamp of pure awareness (நினைவிலாத மணிவிளக்கு) shines forth effortlessly and perpetually. In that profound stillness beyond conceptual thought, the waking world is recognized as ephemeral as a fleeting dream, and the crystal-clear, unshakeable truth that remains standing is the non-dual reality of Sivaya(ma).
