A nest is built, an egg is laid, and someone stays: that is the likeness. What follows is compressed. A goat that has borne two young dances in the hall, and ஆடு is both the animal and the dance. Human cows, people addressed as பசு, bound soul and grazing beast together, take cattle and eat butter. After the house is seen and held, the bare open is seen as well.
The teaching
With poignant realism, Sivavakkiyar compares human worldliness to a bird that weaves a fragile twig nest, lays its eggs, and fancies itself permanently secure. Wealthy men erect opulent mansions and surround themselves with comforts, yet in an instant, death severs their ties, and their corpses are bound and carted off to the cremation ground. Sivavakkiyar urges the seeker to look past this ephemeral nest of flesh and stone to discover the true, indestructible Home (வீடு / liberation). By transcending the mortal cage, the seeker merges into the 'Open Void' (வெட்டவெளி)—the boundless, unconditioned expanse of pure cosmic Consciousness.
