The Project Madurai table prints this gloss beside verse 197. It explains a word in this song:
A gloss beside this song names arukkan as the sun and soman as the moon. Past the sun and the moon, and past even that beyond, stars that climb by pressing close stand crowded together, and their crowding is called a straightness. Melt that straightness to a single letter, in a space that has no comparison. The people who are able to remain there are asked as if the answer were already yes. For them there is no being born again.
The teaching
Cosmic Kundalini ascension beyond the sun, moon, and stars into the peerless Void (ஒப்பிலாத வெளி). In the subtle body, the solar channel (அருக்கன் / Pingala) and the lunar channel (சோமன் / Ida) are transcended. Ascending far beyond them through the Sushumna, past the crowded constellations of inner mystical stars (தாரகை / the luminous starry visions of the Ajna), the yogi melts all cosmic multiplicity and subtle structures into the singular primordial letter (ஓர் எழுத்து = Pranava / Sivam). Anchoring this unconditioned sound in the peerless, shoreless Void of Pure Consciousness (ஒப்பிலாத வெளி / Chidakasha), the yogi attains permanent absorption. Those rare masters who are capable of abiding immovably in this transcendent emptiness have eradicated every root of karma—for them, there is never another birth
