A letter lies hidden in the letter that was already hidden. In a wheel a bitter little fruit rolls, and something lies in a round basket. That middle line is compressed, a harsh small thing in a turning and a container. Then the clear likeness returns. As oil is hidden in the sesame, every letter is our Lord. The straight truth stood hidden inside. Who can see it? Sight fails because he is held the way oil is held in the seed.

The teaching

The concluding verse of this decad is a profound meditation on the nested concealment of the Divine within sacred sound and physical reality. Just as a subtle seed-letter lies hidden within an outer letter, and a deeper esoteric vibration lies concealed within that inner letter—and just as sesame oil resides invisibly throughout the sesame seed—so does our Supreme Lord dwell secretly within every syllable of speech and every particle of creation. Sivavakkiyar closes with a poignant mystical question: when the Divine hides Himself so intimately and directly within the very fabric of existence, who possesses the subtle, enlightened vision to behold this unvarnished Truth? Only the seeker whose inner eye has been opened by grace can perceive the Lord shining within all names and forms.

Verse 300

  1. 1Aagamaththin utporul agandamuulam aadhalaal
  2. 2Thaagapoga minriyee thariththadhar paramumnii
  3. 3Eegapaadham vaiththanai unarththum anjezhuththulee
  4. 4Eegapogam aagiyee irundhadhee sivaayamee.

This verse folds the written Agama into a name. Its inner matter is the undivided root, and the one addressed is the supreme that bears that root without craving and without enjoyment. Inside the five letters that make the truth known, a single foot is set down. What then remains, as the one enjoyment, is Sivayam. The song is showing you where the book ends and the name begins.

The teaching

Sivavakkiyar reveals that the true essence of all Agamic scriptures is not external temple liturgy, caste rituals, or textual dogma, but the indivisible, limitless root-source (அகண்டமூலம்) of consciousness. The seeker does not need to chase worldly pleasures (போகம்) or burn with thirst (தாகம்) for transient rewards. Instead, the transcendent Reality (தற்பரம்) is experienced within oneself when the mind establishes singular, unmoving stillness (ஏகபாதம்)—the unshakeable ascent of consciousness along the central spinal column (Sushumna). When this one-pointed awareness is anchored in the esoteric Five Letters (Panchakshara / சிவாய), all fragmented worldly experiences dissolve into a unified, non-dual ecstasy of being (ஏகபோகம்). In this Advaitic culmination, all external religious systems collapse into the self-luminous reality of Shiva alone.

The name is now traced through the body. On the root gate a three-peaked form stands, and a mantra rises in the middle of four gates and eight fingers. The form is at once one and five, and the you of the song has been wandering here. The singer refuses to see these as separate things. What ripened out of them is Sivayam, the same name the previous verse left standing.

The teaching

Sivavakkiyar maps the exact internal landscape of Kundalini and Vasi yoga. At the base chakra, the root gateway (மூலவாசல் / Muladhara), the vital breath bifurcates into the three subtle channels (முச்சரம்—Ida, Pingala, and Sushumna). Through exact pranic calibration—spanning the four bodily apertures and the subtle eight-finger span of breath—the primordial mantra spontaneously resonates without verbal utterance (Ajapa Japa). The ignorant wander externally among shrines, unable to reconcile the One unmanifest source with its fivefold elemental expression (அஞ்செழுத்து). But for the realized Siddha, all perceived dualities between body, breath, universe, and God dissolve into total unity; the entire cosmic vibration ripens into the single living realization of Sivaya(ma).

Verse 302

  1. 1Sukkilath thadiyulee suzhiththadhor ezhuththulee
  2. 2Akkarath thadiyulee amarndhaaadhi sodhinii
  3. 3Ukkarath thadiyulee unarndha anjezhuththulee
  4. 4Akkaram adhaagiyee amarndhadhee sivaayamee.

The letter is followed down three stalks. First the stalk of the white seed, where one letter has coiled. Then the stalk of the letter itself, where the primal light sits, and you are that light. Then the stalk of the vowel u, where the five letters are known. What finally sits as that letter is Sivayam. The verse is a descent through seed, syllable, and name.

The teaching

Sivavakkiyar unveils the esoteric alchemy of Siddha transmutation, tracing consciousness from the physical generative fluid (சுக்கிலம்) to transcendent illumination. Within the subtle biological root lies the coiled, spiral letter (சுழித்ததோர் எழுத்து)—the latent Kundalini-Shakti and the primordial Pranava. By sublimating this vital essence through breath retention and yogic heat, the practitioner ascends to the root of eternal sound (அக்கரம்), realizing that the indwelling self is none other than the primordial light of consciousness itself (ஆதி சோதி நீ). Through the fiery mystic syllable 'U' (உ-காரம்)—representing the upward blazing flame of Shakti—the true mystery of the Five Letters is awakened. The mortal form and its vital currents are completely transfigured into the imperishable sound-body of Sivaya(ma).

Verse 303

  1. 1Kundalaththu leeyulee aruththagaththu naayagan
  2. 2Kandavandha mandalam karuththazhiththa kuuththanai
  3. 3Vindalarndha sandhiran vilanguginra meypporul
  4. 4Kandugonda mandalam sivaayamalladhu illaiyee.

The verse looks inside the coil and names a lord of the six-fold house, a dancer who has ruined thought, and a moon that has burst into bloom. These are not separate sights. They are the true substance shining, and the sphere one actually comes to see. The closing is absolute: that seen sphere is nothing other than Sivayam.

The teaching

This verse depicts the ecstatic summit of Kundalini yoga. As the serpent power (குண்டலி) uncoils and pierces through the six bodily centers (அறுத்தகம் / the six adharas from Muladhara to Ajna), the practitioner encounters the supreme Lord of the inner temple. Ascending beyond all conceptual thoughts and mental chatter, the yogi beholds the cosmic Dancer (கருத்தழித்த கூத்தன்) performing His liberating dance in the heart of pure awareness. At the cranial zenith (Sahasrara), the mystical inner moon blossoms (விண்டலர்ந்த சந்திரன்), showering divine ambrosia (அமிர்தம்) and revealing the self-luminous Reality. This sublime internal mandala is not a mythological heaven or an external shrine; it is the experiential, non-dual embodiment of Sivaya(ma).

Five halls that seem to circle you are declared one space, and that space has already passed beyond speech. The verse then scolds you for failing to notice a double standing: Sakti and Siva as one nature, the body itself as Sakti, and Siva inside the soul that flickers. The address turns sharp. Mad ones, you have not known the form in which the Lord abides.

The teaching

With fierce iconoclastic clarity, Sivavakkiyar exposes the folly of seeking God in distant temples while failing to recognize the living sanctum of one's own organism. The five bodily sheaths and senses (ஐந்து கூடம்) are not obstacles to be despised, but the unified gateway into the boundless, ineffable expanse of pure consciousness (சொல்லிறந்த வெளி). In a breathtaking revelation of Siddha non-duality, he declares that the physical body itself is the living manifestation of Shakti (சத்தி யாவது உம் உடல்), while the pulsating soul within is none other than Shiva (தயங்கு சீவன் உள் சிவம்). Denouncing dogmatic religionists as madmen (பித்தர்காள்), he demands that they cease their futile outer quests and realize that the cosmic union of Shiva and Shakti is perpetually embodied right within their own flesh and breath.
