Someone stays with a companion inside the Supreme's five letters, and from a height a mantra is uttered. The next image is a craft. Bamboo is cut, the fiber is stripped, and a topknot is made in that same manner. What has been examined as a thread is where the thing appears, and it is taken by cutting through to understanding. The five letters are worked here the way a maker works a stalk into cord. Sitting with the companion is the start. The thread is the proof.
The teaching
Sivavakkiyar employs the metaphor of an artisan to illustrate the subtle craft of Vasi yoga and internal mantra chanting. In deep yogic union—aligning vital breath and attentive mind in stillness—the practitioner raises the upward breath through the central nadi (ஓங்கி நாடி) to chant the Supreme Lord's Five Letters at the crown center (Sahasrara). Just as an expert craftsman cuts raw bamboo, strips its inner fibrous strands, and skillfully weaves a delicate structure (முச்சில்), the yogi must isolate the exceedingly fine thread of consciousness (the Brahma-nadi) from the dense physical body. Through deep analytical discernment and meditative contemplation (ஆய்ந்த நூல்), the seeker cuts away gross sensory identifications and directly experiences the subtle luminous vibration pulsating within.
