He stands in the count of eight times eight, and from being there he becomes other. He becomes fire, wind, water, earth, and the long sky. When darkness entered, the lord of the mixed light is named. Those who plunged in the dark water will mark him and know. Number and element do not thin him out into the world. They are ways he becomes. The knowing belongs to people who went into the dark stream.
The teaching
The Supreme Lord permeates the sixty-four traditional arts, principles, and tattvas (எட்டெட்டு எண் = 64), yet remains completely transcendent and distinct from all of them (இருந்து வேறதாகுவன்). He manifests as the five cosmic elements—fire, wind, water, earth, and the infinite ether—and enters the dark, unmanifest womb of creation as the uncreated, self-luminous Master of Time and Light This non-dual omnipresence cannot be perceived by superficial intellects. Only those mystics who take the sacred plunge into the "waters of the Guru" (குருப்புனல் / the sanctifying stream of the Guru's grace and the descending nectar of Sahasrara) can truly discern, realize, and embody the supreme Lord.
